I knew it was too good to be true. Just last night, thanks to the course I’m taking at Emily Carr University called “The Art of Blogging,” I learned all sorts of new fancy WordPress tricks… did you see how I moved the sidebar from the right to the left? And added that “email subscription” button? I know, I know, my technical savvy is overwhelming. I got some lovely feedback on my post from the other night on “The Royal Jewels,” and then, BOOM, all of sudden tonight, the photos in the post all disappeared! Prince William and me punting on the Thames, gone. And no matter what I do, I can’t get them back up. So I’ve temporarily disabled the post… it won’t let me format either, and that just ain’t right. Once Andrew, my assigned “Happiness Engineer” from WordPress.com, gets this sorted out, “The Royal Jewels” will be back for your viewing pleasure. Until then, can I tell you a secret?
I had one of the best days EVER. For those of you who’ve been following this crazy and sometimes wonderful adventure I’ve been on since the summer, I’m really starting to feel some momentum, like I’m actually starting to “work” in the way that I’ve envisioned, and it’s an amazing feeling! Projects are popping up, just the way I’d hoped they might if I gave this experiment enough time to germinate. I’m finishing up a really cool consulting project for a mission-based company owned by a friend of mine, and it looks like I’m about to pick up another project of the same sort — a little research and writing in that social-enterprise-businessy-sort-of-way.
Even though it’s related to other work I’ve done, this specific kind of project work is something totally new for me, like so many other “firsts” over the last few months — like starting this blog, teaching, reading my words in front of an SRO audience, even singing Saturday night in front of a hundred folks at A’s ‘7o’s disco birthday party, dressed up like a crazy Spanish rocker and milking it for all I could. (Okay, that last part wasn’t a first, but it’s been a while.)
But wait, there’s more! Later this afternoon, I confirmed that I’m teaching my course on Social Responsibility in Entertainment & Media at VFS again in January, which means I’ll be busy planning that over the next month. And I finally got the email I’d been waiting on for the last week letting me know that I got a “real” interview for a “real” job that I’m really (no quotes!) interested in. I’m not counting any chickens, but wouldn’t that be something…
So there’s all that. And I’m just lovin’ writing these days… so there’s that too.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
Thanks so much to Andrew, my own personal Happiness Engineer, for working so quickly and diligently on the technical glitch and helping restore the formatting functionality! All photos and links are back in their right place in “The Royal Jewels” and the post is back up. All is right in the world.
You just put a big smile on this sad punim!
Thanks for that friend! I love you! xo
